You celebrated the lavender with us by gathering as a community. You made fresh lavender wands and baskets alongside the field while artists painted landscapes, folks chatted while savoring the new Very Berry Lavender Sorbet (not a spoonful left!), you spread a picnic lunch on the ground in the sun or a bit of shade sipping Lavender Lemonade, you shucked lavender in the barn and enjoyed a tour of the farm.
You may have discovered just the perfect lavender plant for your garden or pot, or just enjoyed breathing in the fresh scent of lavender as you strolled the field and gardens. Your children, toddling or teens, they free-ranged on the farm enjoying the horses (Trot too, the wooden pony, and about my work at the North Carolina Therapeutic Riding Center serving differently abled children and adults through horse-centered programs), dogs, kittens, and chickens. Kids games were in full swing just beyond the clothesline of quilts!
The honeybees are grateful that you are enjoying their liquid gold and we thank you for your support as you found all sorts of lavender hand made items in the Lavender Garden Shed. Your support of the farm allows us to pay our harvest crew living wage and to invest in the immediate needs of the farm in preparation for our next event. (Please take a mid-week escape with me next Wednesday to Pharsalia!)
Thank you for visiting during our 10th Annual Lavender Harvest Celebration.
